This document contains all information needed to be a co-op Manager.
The co-op Manager should be the Manager of the Group the co-op is assigned to, and that person will be displayed as the official manager on WaterlooWorks. William Melek, who is in charge of the Student Design Center, will be responsible with the actual WaterlooWorks account.
Whenever possible, COOP students should be placed to work on projects in pairs. WATonomous learned from the 2019 COOP students that placing COOP students in pairs is much more effective than assigning a COOP student working on a project alone. The difference was significant: COOP students working in pairs showed up on a regular basis at the bay to work on tasks assigned and provided weekly updates. Having a partner to work with will also reduce the loneliness of the COOP student.
Every week, the co-op and their Manager should complete a Weekly Report using this template and send the completed report to their Director. This template will later be reviewed by the other Directors and Captains, as well as the Student Design Center to ensure the co-ops are performing work.
By the end of Week 8, the Manager should complete a midterm evaluation, using this template, discussing the progress and performance of the co-op, and how they can improve. Once the Manager has went through the evaluation with the co-op, they should send a copy of the report to the Director to be reviewed by the other Directors, Captains, and other external stakeholders.
