The Electrical and Mechanical divisions will be running bi weekly remote sessions to plan and document the following topics

Mitchell
Hoyt{.confluen
ce-userlink
.user-mention} - Some updates on the work done in previous term

Sensor Interfacing cable management

- Wires for Novatel imu unit have been routed from sideways making
sure the seat-belts can still be used but the length of wires
under the rear right seat has created a sort of bulge making it
difficult for person sitting on the rear side to rest his/her
feet on that cover.
- There's a VLP 32 (LIDAR) control box on the roof of bolt needs a
3d printed or some kind of protection in case weather decides to
change which can be issue now that the challenge has been
extended to fall season
- The three cameras mount was almost done thanks to Chad
Kirton{
.confluence-userlink
.user-mention} but still we have to finish mounting of new covers
for cameras which won't go in as the diameter of cover is
smaller than the diameter of the lens.
- The third camera has fish-eye lens mounted on it not sure why but
maybe (for performing disparity calculation which is an effective
way to describe a 3D Cartesian space) which can help the
perception team but during our testing we found that the current
place of third camera mount doesn't really help perception team
and needs to be somewhere just below the VLP-32 Anita
Hu{.conflue
nce-userlink
.user-mention} can update you more on this.
- The monitors on the front and rear side both have long enough
cables for operation but the monitor stand on the rear side keeps
falling which needs to be more stable but it's a minor issue.
- The CAN controller near the driver's seat needs to be at a place
which does not affect driver in any driving scenario.
- SI team has changed switch from 1g to 10g, so we can unplug the
other one if there's no use Rohit
Kochhar{
.confluence-userlink
.user-mention} can help you with this.
- We have reverted back to 1-1 port PoEs (Power Over Ethernet
injectors) from 4-4 port PoEs for cameras due to unknown hardware
issues in 4-4 port PoEs. Rohit
Kochhar{
.confluence-userlink
.user-mention} take help from power systems for resolving this
issue, but this resolution has led to increase in number of power
adapters required for powering these PoEs, hence we need to use
both power bars( one on left and other one on right).
- Last but not least we need to have fixed positions for every
component on compute rack, because it creates more problems for
Mechanical team to adapt with these changes , so I would suggest
that we follow Chad
Kirton{
.confluence-userlink
.user-mention} 's distribution diagram for this purpose (CAD
model), and make necessary changes.
