[WATO Leaders should promote members to leadership positions to recognize significant contributions that they've made to the team. These promotions can either be done before the beginning of a term or during a term, depending on the position. The following are the promotion guidelines for each leadership position.]
[]
Teams Captain(s) will be selected at the discretion of the previous term's Team Captain. Occasionally, the selection will be performed before the previous term's Team Captain has left. In this case, the newly selected Team Captain will act as the "Junior Captain", who will shadow the Senior Team Captain and occasionally take over certain responsibilities while in training.
Directors will be nominated by the previous term's Director for the same Division a month before the beginning of the term. The criteria for what makes a good Director will be based on a combination of a Manager's understanding of their respective stack and managerial skills. Once nominated, the nominating Director will present the nomination to the management team (all other Directors and Captains), who will confirm the nomination.
Managers will be nominated among the Technical Leads, and occasionally Core Members who demonstrate great leadership and organization skills. Managers should be nominated a month before the beginning of the term by the Director of the Division or the previous term's Manager. Once nominated, the Director will present the nomination to the management team (all other Directors and Captains), who will confirm the nomination.
Technical Leads can be nominated at any time throughout the term to Core Members who demonstrate great technical skills and knowledge about the Group's technical stack. Nominations for Technical Leads should be done by the Group's Manager who will mention it in either one-on-ones with the Division's Director or the Division's Leads meeting. The Director will then confirm the nomination.
