There are two websites that you must affiliate to WATonomous on: sae.org and autodrivechallenge.com

There is also one safety form that you must read and agree to before using The Bay.

SAE Website

As requested by SAE (the competition organizers), each member must first affiliate themselves with SAE. As per competition rules, there is an associated fee of $25 for this SAE student affiliation. The fee covers the affiliation for 1 year. To complete this affiliation, please do the following:

  1. Go to http://www.sae.org/membership/join/
  2. Click "Join SAE for Students"
  3. Follow the application process
  4. Once you are an SAE member, go to http://students.sae.org/cds/autodrive/event/registration/ and follow the steps taken in this video to affiliate with WATonomous.

AutoDrive Challenge Website

Every member of the team must sign up on the SAE AutoDrive website, fill out Non-Disclosure Agreements, and download the rules. Here are the steps (warning: the SAE AutoDrive website is a bit glitchy):

  1. Go to autodrivechallenge.com
  2. Make an account, make sure to check “Team member” as your affiliation
  3. Wait for your request to be approved by a team captain or faculty advisor
  4. Print a page showing you have completed your SAE Student Membership and autodrivechallenge.com affiliation, showing that you are now a member.
  5. Go to E7 3326 on campus. Show Liz Skibicki the membership pages you printed above for SAE and AutoDriveChallenge.com. She will give you a copy of the third page of the GM NDA with Prof Rayside’s signature.
  6. Fill out and upload all forms and NDAs listed under "Manage my series NDAs"
    1. For the "Faculty Advisor Participation Agreement", upload your "Student Participation Agreement" a second time.
  7. Wait for your NDAs to be approved by the AutoDrive Challenge Committee
  8. Download the competition rules, and read the rules!

Safety Code of Conduct Form

Bay Rules

First, read the rules that everyone must obey when working in The Bay

  1. Only project leads have the code to access the black locked cabinet. Two members, including a project lead or project manager, must be present at all times while using anything from this cabinet.
  2. ONLY the people who attended Milford Driver Training have permissions to drive the Bolt. It is forbidden and against the AutoDrive rules for anybody else to drive it. The list of trained drivers is on a laminated sheet in the Bolt.
  3. ALL testing on the Bolt that requires movement or interfacing with the CANBus needs to be completed outside, with one of the approved drivers in the driver seat, and another member in the passenger seat.
  4. No eating or drinking in the bay.
  5. No dirty shoes in the car.
  6. Be mindful and respectful when using our resources and the bay. This isn't your home, it is shared with everybody. We need to keep it clean and organized.
  7. Boxes that are from shipments are to be broken down and disposed of immediately, we don't have room for the storage of boxes and it contributes to disorganization.
  8. Return items to their proper location after using them. Everything should be stored neatly in a labeled container or similar.
  9. Please use your common sense.
