The task of perception is to extract useful information from the car's environment using sensors (i.e. cameras, LiDARs, radars) which are needed to make decisions of where to go. Objects we need to classify for year 3 challenge include dynamic pedestrians, static cyclists, stop signs, right/left turn only signs, do not enter signs, traffic lights (and their state). Other potential obstacles include static cars, dynamic deer, construction blockage. We also need to extract information from the road including classifying solid/dashed lanes (which can be yellow or white), detecting stop lines at intersections, stop signs and pedestrian crossing.
